Community

Our Admissions office recognizes that applying to a new school can be a daunting process, and we would like to do everything possible to support your family as you explore the possibility of joining our MIS community. We will be pleased to assist you through the application process.

START OF SCHOOL ADMISSION PROCESS

Interested students/parents are required to submit to the Admissions Office a completed MIS application form.

Following submission applicants are screened and evaluated for acceptance and for grade level placement with a view toward their successfully gaining promotion from grade to grade, eventually leading to the awarding of the International Baccalaureate Diploma and/or the MIS High School Diploma.

Based on grade level and language proficiency, testing and screening for placement purposes will take different forms, including but not limited to, consideration of all past school reports in English, a personal interview, standardized tests, language proficiency testing and a review of previous special needs documentation. The granting or refusal of admission is the responsibility of the Head of School in collaboration with the Principal in charge of that specific grade level.

Primary School, Grade 1-5 (PYP)

Applicants for grades 1-5 may be required to complete a placement evaluation/assessment interview and/or testing of basic Mathematics and English reading and writing and final acceptance may be dependent upon the satisfactory completion of this assessment.

Middle School, Grades 6-10 (MYP)

For students applying for entry in to Middle School (grades 6 – 10) an interview and a placement test for English and Mathematics will be used.

Final acceptance is dependent upon the satisfactory completion of the assessments.

In cases where applicants demonstrate a lower level of English proficiency, the student will be invited for further assessment with our English as an additional Language (EAL) Department.

Senior School, Grades 11 – 12 (DP)

For students applying for entry into the Senior School (grades 11 - 12) an interview and a written or oral assessment will be made in Mathematics, English as Language A and, where appropriate, in French as Language B.

In cases where applicants demonstrate a lower level of English proficiency, the student will be invited for further assessment with our English as an additional Language (EAL) Department.

APPLICATION REVIEW

Our Admissions Committee will meet to consider your application and review the application form, and the result of interview and standardized test if available, school reports/transcripts, references, and performance in entrance tests. It is vital to us that MIS is a good fit for your child and for your family, so we may contact you for additional information if we have any outstanding queries at this stage.

Admission may be granted, denied or the student may be placed on a waiting list. The director will give the ultimate approval for acceptance.
